Snow guards

Snow guards prevent accidents and damage caused by falling snow, protecting the roof. They help to keep snow accumulation on the roof under control and ensure that the areas surrounding the building are safe. All Orima snow guards, ladders and roof decks are produced in Finland.

SNOW GUARDS

Tube snow guards

Sloping roof surfaces need snow guards to prevent accumulated snow from falling off the roof uncontrollably. According to Finnish building regulations, snow guards have to be installed where the snow load would otherwise fall on pavements, at doorways or onto streets. It is recommended that snow guards are installed for the full length of the roof, to ensure that people near the building are safe from falling snow and that trees and plants are protected. Sufficient and correctly installed snow guards also

  • keep the pressure from snow loads balanced
  • and ensure that falling snow does not damage the roof or rainwater systems.

When designing and dimensioning the snow guards, it's important to take into account the roof slope, shape and pitch and the basic snow loads in the building area. Check the snow guard dimensioning guides.

ORIMA TUBE SNOW GUARDS

The snow guards are made of oval steel tube. This structure is stronger, and can withstand heavier snow loads, than round steel tubes of the same size. A single row of Orima’s oval-shaped snow guards is sufficient for most roofs, bringing savings to the customer.

  • bracket c/c spacing of 1.2 m or less, tube length 3 m, two tubes per package
  • hot-dip galvanised or hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated
  • no separate couplings
  • colour options for the powder-coated snow guards: RR20 white, RR32 brown, RR23 grey, RR33 black, and RR750 red
  • availability of other colours by order

ORIMA GRATING SNOW GUARDS

The grating snow guard is the most efficient way to stop accumulated snow from falling off the roof. It is particularly suitable for urban areas, as even small pieces of ice can cause danger to life or property if falling from the roof of a tall building.
The grating snow guards are 150 mm high, and they are available in two standard lengths, 1.25 m and 2.5 m. If a greater length is required, two or more snow guards can be installed separately or joined with lap joints.

  • a very effective snow guard
  • availability also with spikes
  • bracket spacing c/c of 1.2 m or less
  • hot-dip galvanised or hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated
  • colour options:  RR32 brown, RR23 grey, RR33 black, and RR750 red
